§ 6-38. Diseased or injured animals.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to knowingly keep any injured animal without providing proper treatment for such injury, or any animal infected with a disease which may contaminate other animals and which may be a health hazard. A person acts "knowingly" when he is aware that such circumstances exist.

    (b)

    Any such untreated injured animal or any diseased animal shall be immediately treated or, when necessary, humanely destroyed to prevent unwarranted suffering. The disposition of such animals shall be at the direction of the supervisor of animal welfare officer or a licensed veterinarian.
